Classroom 16 is a special place where students have a deep sense of "belonging' and where they feel deeply, that School is a place where if they do their best, it will lead them to greatness! Students grow in understanding everyday in realization of how much they learn within each hour, and they look forward to the ways in which learning is made challenging, fun, and self-satisfying. We define "greatness" as having acquired the skills, knowledge, and sense of responsibility in order to have the ability to care for others and the world in some great way.

Here students are in Groups of 4, working on the Aim to Summarize a story that was read over the week. Each "Party Hat" of 4 kinds available, designates the group member as either the: 1) Leader, 2) Scribe, 3) Organizer, 4) 'Final Sayer'

Sylvanna, on her last day as then she left having moved to another community. Mr. Stathis had Sylvanna in 4th Grade last year and she began in his class as a 5th Grader this year. Each member of the class wrote her a Good-bye letter. ...And she wrote one too.

Students were challened after the reading and discussion of each page of the story to then challenge their classmates by thinking-up a good question of their own that could be answered from information in the text, writing that down, and then sharing it aloud to see who could get it right.

Varying computer-based developmental lesson Programs, both in Reading and Math, are available to students, reinforcing skill practice and concept development in their curricular expectations aimed right at their individual level, step-by-step.

Students engage in technology as a natural part of their learning experience.

Also, students are periodically Tested via the computer, and this is the data looked at for broad curricular goal-setting as well as pin-pointing individualized needs.
